Berberanews,06,Dec,2011-Just in-At least five people, including a Somali policeman, have been killed when a car exploded while it was being searched in Mogadishu, sources say.
The police officers stopped the car in a busy intersection of the city when the vehicle exploded. Investigators confirmed the deaths of an officer, a civilian and driver whom believed to be the ones that set off the explosives.
The war-torn city has seen an increase in such attacks since the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab abandoned permanent positions. In October, Al- Shabaab suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden truck, killing at least 82 and wounding many more, the bloodiest such attack in the group’s history.
The hard-line insurgents control large parts of southern Somalia but are facing increasing pressure from Kenyan army and government forces.
