SOMALILAND: President Silanyo in Jigjiga to Attend 8th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day Celebrations

Hargeisa, (SOmalilandmonitor) -Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Siilaanyo” left Hargeisa for Jigjiga, capital of the Somali Region of Ethiopia on Saturday to take part the 8th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day celebrations.
Silanyo is accompanied in the visit by Presidency Minister Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan, Commerce Minister Dr. Mohamed Abdilahi Omer, Livestock Minister Dr. Abdi Aw Dahir, Information Minister Abdilahi Cukuse, Water Minister Hussein Ahmed Abdilahi and Presidential spokesman Ahmed Sulaiman Dhuhul.
The two-day Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day celebrations opens on Sunday in Jigjiga and it will last for two days.
Previously, the Speaker of Somaliland national assembly and the chairman of WADDANI opposition party Abdurrahman Mohamed Abdullah Cirro arrived in Jig Jiga on Friday to attend the celebration of Ethiopia’s 8th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day.


The 8th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day will be celebrated on Sunday (Tomorrow) in Jigjiga, the capital of Somali Regional State of Ethiopia under the theme “Our Constitution for Our Renaissance.” The Day will be marked by recognition of the benefits of the Constitution and its role in stimulating efforts to accelerate the Ethiopian Renaissance. Representatives of all Ethiopia’s Regional States and its nations, nationalities and peoples will be present, with cultural performances demonstrating traditional customs.
Representatives of the Governments of Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan and South Sudan are expected to take part in the celebrations.
